I’ve decided to write about what has been happening over the past 80 days. I wished I had started to write this from the beginning of those days, however, time doesn’t matter, does it not?
After numerous attempts over the past 10 years to work on A Course In Miracles, I’ve finally committed to giving it a real go. So, I started the course again… and I am so glad I did.
After years of varying and flipping my studies from Buddhism to the New Age and everything in between, I feel like I’ve finally found a home here with ACIM. Although ACIM is based on very similar principles to Christianity and Christian Science, it doesn’t belong to any religion and is open to all who want inner peace, changes, and a chance to accept that we are all God’s sons and we’re not separate. (Separation is a problem that leads to projecting our ‘shit’ onto others – who are really us! You and I.)
Over the past 80 days, I’ve continued to dive deeper into ACIM and not miss a lesson. Somedays, I understand the lessons, other days, it takes me a while, and then BAM! It clicks in and I am blown away. Since this time, I’ve forgiven myself and others and will continue to do on a daily basis. (remembering ‘they’ are me, and if I forgive myself, then forgiving others is easy as we are all either expressing love or a call out for love.)
I have restored some seemingly difficulties within my family, which I am so ever grateful for. I flew to NSW and hugged my brothers. I was there for 2 days but it was enough to find peace. I have only love for all of them. I always did, however, a veil of untruths was shrouding my vision. I recognize that in my mind, I was creating a movie about suffering. Once I recognized this, it was so easy to let go of my past difficult days.
As each day passes, I find joy in letting go and allowing God to take the lead in my life. Some amazing things have transpired. More than anything, when I’ve been putting this to the test, it has worked out so much more for me than when I have tried to control every situation and outcome in my life.
I admit I am more a student than a teacher of ACIM, however, just by demonstrating ACIM in action, it’s almost like I am an accidental teacher. My favorite speaker/teacher on ACIM is Marianne Williamson. I am following her ACIM teachings daily. She helps me to understand the workbook and makes things so much easier. I highly recommend her teachings if you are wanting to begin ACIM.

It has probably been a few months now since Dharma has passed. I am reminded of him every day as I have him on two of my desktop screensavers. In fact as I look to my left there he is. Sometimes it still does not feel real that he is not around. Just making my bed this morning and I went round to the side where he normally sleeps, and it triggered me to cry.
Grief is a very interesting thing. It just hits at any time, times of happiness or times of busyness. It just hits. I find it happens a lot in times when I was enjoying myself sitting out the back in the sun. He used to sit with me there. Or when I would lie on the lounge room floor watching Netflix. He used to sit with me there. Or even when I am having a bath. He used to come in and check I was still around. It’s the small moments and I guess I took some of them for granted and how much joy they gave me. Simply just to be with my dog. I felt like I had the world within me.
I love living here in the country. I feel blessed to have a beautiful house here. The house does feel empty though of late. It’s not like I get lonely or anything like that, I like my own company. I guess I do miss the pitter patter of his feet when I was moving from room to room and the joy he gave me.
Some days I go to the shrine I have made for Buddy and Dharma and just hold them close and cry. It’s really healing. It’s like I can have these bursts of tears, but then I move on and I am okay once more.
Isn’t it funny that when someone close to you dies, whether that be an animal or a person, you begin to reflect on other people have who have passed on earlier in your life. Does that happen to you? I think of both of my grandparents. I think of friends that have passed too early. I think of my cousin who only just passed over the past week. 34 years old. Gone too soon.
I also wonder about heaven. When I was younger I was convinced there was heaven. Now I struggle with the concept. I am not saying there isn’t one, I really hope there is. But after reading various religious texts where everyone thinks that their text is right, I truly don’t know. I was reflecting on Einstein’s quote this morning where he said “everything is energy.” This gave me hope because I realised that we can’t just make energy disappear. That even if Dharma is energy, it no longer the same as what it was, it is still around. It might have just changed form, that’s all. This gives me hope.
It seems to be the not knowing that is the most difficult part of letting go when someone dies. Can they see us? Could it be that dharma is with me right now sitting beside my chair as I write these words to you? I guess we truly won’t know until we come to that day when we pass over. But then again who is to say that we haven’t already passed over before? Again and again and again?
Interestingly, I’m not afraid of death myself. In fact I’ve already seen myself the way I am going to die – in a chair out in the sun. Very much at peace and grateful for the beautiful life I’ve been blessed with.
Our time is short. Let’s make every day count and go with as much love in our heart as we can muster.

I was shocked when she mentioned to me about writing, because the past 12 months I’d been thinking of documenting Dharma’s last days in some way, shape or from but had never got around to it. (How often do we do this type of thing!) I knew his time was slowly coming to an end as he had an in-treatable cancer of the mouth and it was growing larger each day.

And so, I’ve called this site, “Days Of Dharma,” a reminder for me of the love we’ve shared and the word “Dharma” being from the spiritual Buddhist texts meaning ‘spiritual teachings’ or ‘the truth.’ This blog wont just be about Dharma, it will be my story, my personal journey in life.
I often said to others over the years that I lived on my own and really enjoyed my own company. The truth was, I’d never really lived on my own whilst I had Dharma. He was always following me from room to room each moment.
The day would start with me leaning over the side of the bed and gently patting his back. He would begin to stretch and then get excited as he knew it was almost time to walk. For me, he was the greatest physical exercise coach I could’ve asked for. I walked 7 days a week twice a day – whether I wanted to or not. I will admit, even if I didn’t want to walk on a particular day, once I got out there walking, I was so happy to be in those moments with my best mate. We would often walk by the lake in Windang, or around the block in Peterborough. It didn’t matter where we went, there were moments of adventure.
Dharma taught me patience. I remember in my early years, I was impatient with him stopping and would be always in a rush. Over the past 10 years of operating my own business, things changed. I accepted the fact too that he was slowing down (especially over the past 2 years) and so I began to call those walks “His Time.” It was more about Dharma’s time then mine, although I really don’t know who enjoyed the walks more, him or me. I would sometimes wait at the same spot for a few minutes at a time as he was busy sniffing out another dog that might have recently pee’d on the local palm tree. I would use those times of waiting like an awareness meditation; just being in the moment. And I loved it.
Dharma was there during some of my darkest days in life. Relationship break ups, chronic health issues, anxiety, depression and panic attacks. He was there and he was great comfort through all of that time.
Dharma became the star on my Life Expansion YouTube Channel too. I’m pretty sure he was more loved by my followers than I was (Dharma you star, you!) He would often receive gifts in the mail. He was showered with love even from followers across the other side of the world. T-shirts, dog bedding, pillows, cards were all sent to me to pass onto Dharma. The love for Dharma was felt far and wide.
And who could forget the time I was interviewing the amazing Deb Hann from Hanns On Coaching, when Dharma brought the show to a halt by literally pulling down the entire lighting rig! Oh boy, I am going to miss those fun days.
Dharma made me laugh so much in life. I’m sure as the days go on I will find myself smiling more about Dharma, rather than crying over his loss. One thing for sure, as I look down from my office desk and see he is not there, I do miss him. Terribly. This surge of grief hits me hard in the chest area, often followed by tears.
Here is a photo of the current ‘shrine’ I have set up for Buddy and Dharma – until I scatter their ashes. His pillow on the right hand side, was made by a dear subscriber Nel – who lives on the opposite side of the world!
Thank you Dharma. Thank you for all the love you gave just by being you. Thank you for pushing me to start this blog site. Better late than never. I love you little fella and you will be missed. RIP Dharma.
